Infertility Success Rates

HOW ARE SUCCESS RATES REPORTED?

The following are definitions to consider when reviewing success rates:

Egg Retrieval: Collecting eggs from the ovaries.
Embryo Transfer: Placing embryos into the womb (uterus).
Pregnancy: One or more gestational sacs on ultrasound, or documentation of a birth, spontaneous abortion or therapeutic abortion in cases of missing ultrasound data.
Livebirth: Delivery of a living baby. The delivery of a multiple pregnancy is considered a single livebirth.
Pregnancy (or Livebirth) Rate Per Egg Retrieval: Number of pregnancies or livebirths divided by the number of egg retrievals performed.
Pregnancy (or Livebirth) Rate Per Embryo Transfer: Number of pregnancies (or livebirths) divided by the number of embryo transfers.
